Excessive poaching and human encroachment has led to only
Delhi Zoo and it's White Tigers
1411 tigers alive in the Indian wilderness. Sad, but true! Spotting a tiger in the wild is best left to chance even if you visit Tiger sanctuaries. To spot a White Tiger is an even rarer sight that requires truck loads of luck.
Most people aren’t that lucky, so you might as well head for the Delhi Zoo (National Zoological Park) and have a peak at the regal White Tiger. This tiger specie is usually larger than the typical orange with black stripped colored tiger. Apart from White Tigers, the Delhi Zoo has several other rare creatures, such as the Lion Tailed Macaque, Indian Rhinoceros, and Emu.
After you enter the zoo, there is a sign that states “Follow Yellow Marks to Visit the ZOO in 2 hours”. If you don’t have more than 2 hours, then it is best you follow the yellow marks. The path will enable you to see most creatures. However, I’d rather advise you to plan a 3 hour trip. Some of the animals are truly captivating. The other I found myself staring into the throat of a crocodile, which was basking in the sun. It sent tingle up my spine. Similarly, if you go during winters (December or January), migratory birds from remote areas, such as Siberia, visit the zoo. Fortunately, these long distance travelers don’t require visas for entry and we can enjoy their company.

- Foreign National – Rs. 50 ($ 1)
