The Ultimate Meatball Showdown at YOLO Restaurant

If you love meatballs, you are in for a real treat, as YOLO will host the ultimate meatball showdown in Fort Lauderdale, bringing together some of the top restaurants of South Florida to show off their culinary talents for the Meatballs, Martinis and Madness fundraiser on Thursday, October 15. A little friendly competition will definitely liven up the evening, and I love being able to taste the work of many chefs in one evening, but I really don’t think you can have this competition without the famous meatballs of Steve Martorano.

People either love him or hate him, but when people want his meatballs shipped to destinations nationwide, and sometimes wait for three hours at Cafe Martorano just to get them, there is a reason for their madness. How can a restaurant’s meatballs be termed “Fort Lauderdale’s Best Meatballs” without Steve competing?

I’m not sure the reason for him not competing, but whatever the case this does sound like a fun night out. Restaurants that are competing include: Johnny V, Mancini’s, da Campo Osteria, Cafe Vico, Anthony’s Runway 84, Himmarshee, Tuscan Grill, BOVA Prime and more. An unannounced list of “so-called” celebrity judges will determine the winner.

When: Thursday, October 15

Where: YOLO, 333 E  Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale (954) 523-1000

Time: 6:00 – 8:oo pm

Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the door – Call (954) 523-1000 for more information.

While there, guests will be able to sample the meatballs from the various restaurants and enjoy YOLO’s selection of martinis (that’s my favorite part of YOLO’s menu). The party will continue after the winner is announced. The after-party will include live music, food and drinks.

Proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Jack & Jill Children’s Center, a 501 (c) 3 that provides family oriented early childhood education and support to strengthen working families of Broward County.
