The Coca-Cola sign at Kings Cross is one of those iconic landmarks I’ve always taken for granted. But I began to wonder recently, why is it there? At it turns out, the billboard has been there all my life as it was erected in 1974. While its owned by The Coca-Cola Company it’s also heritage listed so we won’t lose it any time soon. I’ve loved the Laneways By George! art displays which have taken over the city as part of the annual Art and About festival. Each oft-forgotten space has been transformed into a magical area, including this lovely spot on Angel Place. With this installation, called Forgotten Songs, we remember the birds that used to call Angel Place home, long before the city’s buildings went up.
