National Park Week – Free Entrance to 16 Arizona Parks

To encourage visitors to experience America’s Great Outdoors, the National Park Service is waiving entrance fees to 392 national parks April 17-25.

Arizona has the most parks participating in the program from the Chiricahuas south of Tucson to Lake Mead near Nevada to the granddaddy of them all, the Grand Canyon.  Here’s a list of all the parks participating by state.  You’ll notice that nps.gov does a great job of highlighting each of their national parks.  Filled with maps, photos and trip suggestions, this web site is a very useful tool for anyone who is serious about planning a trip to a park.

For this week, many of the parks will have concessioners providing food, transportation, lodging and more to add to your experience.  All types of events are available to meet your interests.  And it’s no coincidence that this event coincides with Earth Day, April 22, with volunteer projects like National Junior Ranger Day for kids.  There’s a listing of all other types of volunteering activities to feed your soul and make you feel even closer to nature.

Both the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead National Recreational Area are offering coupons for shopping, dining, activities and tours.  Look into a two night stay from Seven Crown Resorts at Lake Mohave Resort on Lake Mohave that includes a one day patio or ski boat rental.  Here are more details.

Lake Mead

What a fantastic way to share the stunning beauty of our national parks with friends and family.  Here’s more information to help you explore and plan your trip.

More Vegas 2009 Father’s Day Specials and Freebies

Dad’s deserve a little love once a year for their special father’s touch.  Over my lifetime, I’ve seen a huge shift in how much time fathers spend with their kids, but some things never change.  Dad’s are still the tough ones and the ones that turn boys into men and girls into women...
