Future Holds More Fairy Tales, More Fantasyland

Some call it spring cleaning.  In the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort it is more like spring building, and a lot of it.

Groundbreaking has taken place on a three year construction project, beginning the largest expansion ever for the Magic Kingdom theme park (map) as the size of the Fantasyland section will be greatly enhanced.

Currently the home of Cinderella and her showcase castle, when all construction is completed by 2013, guests to Fantasyland will be able to visit their favorite princess in her own cottage, chateau or castle in Fantasyland Forest.

Guests will be able to step into their favorite fairy tales for even greater encounters with their favorite characters and lots more immersing fun:

  • Dreams Come True with Cinderella – meet Cinderella at her chateau and share a dance or train to be one of her knights
  • Help the Good Fairies celebrate Sleeping Beauty’s birthday when you stop by Briar Rose Cottage
  • Join Belle for a truly enchanted story performance,  in the library of the Beast’s castle
  • While visiting the Beast,  you can try out Be Our Guest Restaurant and dine in one of three enchanted rooms of the castle.  Just outside will be Belle’s village, where Gaston’s Tavern will be area eatery
  • In a brand new attraction, journey under the sea with Ariel, The Little Mermaid.  ( Want a sneak peak, this same attraction will be opening at Disney’s California Adventure (map) in 2011)  This ride-through adventure will entertain with songs from this classic animated film
  • Explore the magical world of Pixie Hollow and meet Tinker Bell and her friends

Perhaps the most exciting addition for all of us parents who have stood in line for what seemed like hours, will be the brand new circus grounds, allowing more room for Dumbo to fly.  The new attraction will be twice the size of the existing attraction and will be housed with a new interactive three-ring circus tent.

There is a famous Disney quote that states, “The smallest guests, wait in the longest lines for the shortest rides.”  I am certainly glad that this situation is being addressed, making Disney an even happier place on earth.

Now Even More Chances to Dine with Cinderella
The alarm clock began buzzing and I fumbled in the dark for my glasses with one hand and the telephone with the other.  I had this date circled on the calendar for months — 180 days exactly and it would be our last day at Walt Disney World Resort, and hopefully we would be dining at Cinderella’s...

Best Chocolate Indulgences Disney Style

Best Chocolate Indulgences Disney Style
Memories of visits to my grandmother’s house swirl around a certain candy dish that sat atop a large oak buffet and was always filled with Chocolate Stars or Sno-Caps.  As a young child that buffet seemed as tall as Mt. Everest and sneaking a morsel from that dish without getting caught was...

A New Blank Calendar Full of The Best Disney Events
I love January for one thing… a new, clean, blank calendar.  A calendar that is not marked with meetings, appointments and commitments.  I love the idea that all those fun things you were “going to do” the year before, but couldn’t squeeze into the agenda, suddenly...
