john knox was a famous Edinburgh resident who in his duties as Scottish priest is considered the founder of the Presbyterian denomination. He served as minister in the glorious St. Giles Cathedral (view location) from 1560 to 1572. Apart from his contributions to the reformation, he is also widely known for his fierce oppositions to the policies of Mary Queen of Scots.
