July 30th is National Cheesecake Day, Win a $25 Cheesecake Factory Gift Card!

Did you know that this Thursday, July 30th, is National Cheesecake Day? It is!

We have a Cheesecake Factory location right here in Denver, CO at 1201 16th St # 100. Have you been there? Well, this Thursday would be the perfect day to check it out. I’ll be there!

The Cheesecake Factory is helping us all celebrate this day by offering those who dine-in half price on 30 of their delicious cheesecakes. On July 30th, you can celebrate the day by dining-in and enjoying a little slice of heaven.

And while you are thinking about that little slice of heaven, take a quick look at what’s going on at The Cheesecake Factory events page on Facebook. I just became a fan because I love both cheesecake and The Cheesecake Factory.

The Cheesecake Factory will also introduce their new flavor: Stefanie’s Ultimate Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake. Yum!

Also, for every slice of Stefanie’s Ultimate Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake sold over the next 12 months, The Cheesecake Factory will donate 25 cents to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief charity.

In celebration of National Cheesecake Day and everything The Cheesecake Factory is doing, I have one $25 gift card to The Cheesecake Factory to give away. Here are the rules of the contest:

Live Music Every Friday at Rock Bottom Brewery in Downtown Denver

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in downtown Denver this summer and I love it. I told you about the new bar, the Oak Tavern, that my husband and I went to and this past weekend, I went to Rialto Cafe’s Summer Wine Dinner. I can’t wait to tell you about that!

The Friday night that we went to the new bar, we decided to walk around 16th street for a little while. Little did I know that Rock Bottom Brewery [map] has what they call “Music at the Bottom” every Friday night in the summer. We could hear the music from quite a ways away and the crowd there was huge!

We stayed for awile and enjoyed the band that was featured that night. Lucky for you, “Music at the Bottom” is going on for a few more weeks. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the summer:

  • July 31st – Blooz Dogz with Above Ground
  • August 7th – Funkiphino with Parkside
  • August 14th – Fina Dupa with the Matt Clark Band
  • August 21st – Hazel Miller with Beki Hemingway

If you get a chance to stop by there on a Friday night, I think you’ll enjoy yourself. You can enjoy dinner at Rock Bottom (which our Tastecasting team said the food was great. I missed that one unfortunately.) After you’ve had dinner and dessert, grab yourself a drink and enjoy the music.

The party starts at 4 pm and the bands take the stage at 5pm and 7pm.

Oak Tavern, A New Bar in Downtown Denver

My husband (Todd) heard about this new bar opening in Downtown Denver over the weekend and we both decided we had to go! The new bar is called Oak Tavern and it’s located at Market Street, on the corner of 14th. It’s right across the street from Old Chicago, so if you are familiar with that area, then you’ll know where I am talking about!

The bar was quite busy that night, since we were coming right at the end of Happy Hour, and their were also photographers and radio personalities covering the event. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I know we did!

The Drinks

We came in and seated ourselves at the bar. Todd had the Oak Tavern beer, which he said was great. They gave him a huge taster, just so he could make sure that’s what he wanted to order. I asked the bartender to recommend a cocktail to me and she said one of her favorites was the Ying Yang. I took her advice and ordered it and was I glad I did! I don’t remember exactly what all it had in it, but I do know it had Green Tea liqueur and Passion Fruit Vodka. Yum!

I talked to one of the staff about their drinks and she told me they actually brought in a mixologist, Jason Girard. He came in to create some signature drinks and shots for Oak Tavern. You can get a cocktail for around $8.

The Food

We were also a bit hungry, so we ordered their nachos. Let me tell you, these are not your ordinary nachos. They threw “forget the corn, we like potatoes”. That’s right. Their nachos are served with potato skins and chilli. They are very filling! We shared a plate and that was plenty for both of us as an appetizer.

The potato is their featured ingredient. You can even order a baked potato. How sweet is that?!

They have a great menu, which includes appetizers, sandwiches, salads and of course plenty of drinks to choose from. Happy hour is from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
