Highwater

If you loved “Endless Summer” and “Step into Liquid” by the quintessential surf director Dana Brown, then I have a sneaking suspicion you are brimming over with anticipation for his latest surf flick “Highwater.”

I’m a huge surf film fan myself, so you’ll see me in line on the film’s opening day later this week, getting my fill of surf mania.  The Hawaii premiere of Dana Brown’s new film Highwater will hit the big screen at Ward Stadium 16 on Thurs., Aug. 26 at 8:00 p.m. 100% of the proceeds from this premiere will benefit the Surfrider Foundation’s Hawaii Chapters and their programs to protect our coastlines.

“Highwater” is a story of triumph, tragedy, and brotherhood, and it exposes the heart of the Pipe Masters and the annual Triple Crown competitions on the North Shore of Oahu. Set against a picturesque background and packed with heart-stopping action, director Dana Brown’s documentary brings the drama, humor, and humanity of this riveting, nearly two month-long competition to life.

This is a story of life and death, paradise lost and found. The film features Andy Irons, Malik Joyeux, Kelly Slater, Sunny Garcia, Rochelle Ballard, Brian Keaulana, Tom Curren, Jon-Jon Florence & family, Carissa Moore and many more.

Due to limited seating, advanced reservations are highly recommended and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To purchase tickets, visit the Ward box office, fandango.com, or call 1-800-FANDANGO. General admission is $10.75 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and children and $8.50 for military. Day-of-show tickets will also available based on availability.

It is only through supporters that the Surfrider Foundation can fight the battles that face our oceans, waves and beaches. When you donate, join or renew your membership, you are helping the Surfrider Foundation confront issues like water pollution, beach access, beach loss, plastic marine debris and other serious concerns.

If you can’t make the Surfrider event, “Highwater” premieres in Hawaii in three theaters on August 27 at Ward Theaters [map], Kahala Theaters [map], and the Maui Megaplex [map].
