After a week of triple digit heat here in Dallas, you could probably use some laughs, some nostalgia, and a whole lot of air-conditioning. Read on to learn about Elvis Day, comedian Michael Ian Black, and other hot events taking place in cool spaces this weekend.

Elvis Day Saturday, August 7th, 2010 is Elvis Day at the Grapevine Opry, 701 South Main Street, Grapevine, TX 76051 (map). Acclaimed Elvis impersonator, Nathan King, performs a 2:00 p.m. matinee and a 7:30 p.m. evening show of the legendary swivel-hipped rock and roll legend. Comedian Michael Ian Black Whether you know him from MTV’s sketch comedy troupe “The State,” his role on the TV show “Ed,” or elsewhere, you’ve got to admit that comedian, Michael Ian Black, is one funny guy. This weekend is your chance to see him perform live at the Addison Improv Comedy Club, #250, 4980 Belt Line Road, Dallas, TX 75254 (map) where he performs August 5th – 8th. Vintage Computer Festival The College of Engineering and the Museum of Information Technology celebrates the history of computing by hosting the Vintage Computer Festival this weekend (August 7-8, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.) Come check out the evolution of technology at this gathering of vendors, speakers and exhibits. Admission is $10 each day, $15 for both days, and free for those under 17. It all takes place at the 701 S. Chef at the Market Cooking Demonstrations Come to the Dallas Farmers Market on Saturday, August 7th to enjoy outdoor cooking demonstrations throughout the day. These demos feature fresh, local produce in healthful recipes you can try at home. Summertime Concerts and FREE Yoga at Watters Creek Bring your appetite and a blanket to Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, 970 Garden Park Drive, Allen, TX 75013 (map) for an evening of outdoor dining, live music and horse-drawn carriage rides. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through October 16th, 2010, Watters Creek hosts Live! on the Green, with live performances starting at 6:30 p.m. This week’s musical performers are: (Thursday 8/5) Rob Holbert Group, (Friday 8/6) Moving Colors, and (Saturday, 8/7) Vic Duncan. KRLD Restaurant Week OK, so it’s actually 3 weeks long, but in any case, KRLD Restaurant Week is just around the corner, which means you need to make reservations right away.
