Taste of London 2010

London is known for a lot of things: Big Ben, the largest Ferris Wheel in the World (the London Eye), and of course royal scandals.

Did you also know that London has one of the world’s best restaurant festivals: the Taste of London?

Held in London’s Regent’s Park June 17-20, the Taste of London will serve up dishes from 40 of the city’s “most acclaimed” restaurants. Also on site will be 150 specialty food and drink suppliers.

Anna Hansen’s The Modern Pantry and Atul Kochhar’s Colony Bar and Grill are two new restaurants taking part in this year’s event, along with Taste of London favorites Le Gavroche, Rhodes Twenty Four, Tom’s Kitchen and Bentley’s.

Tips: One thing to look out for at the Taste of London is the live cooking demonstrations with chef stars Francesco Mazzei of L’Anima and Tristan Welch from Launceston Place. You can also try and get one of the limited edition tickets to attend a prestigious Laurent-Perrier Champagne Masterclass, in association with Daylesford Organic, where food and drink presenter Nigel Barden will introduce guests to a “champagne and food matching experience.”

Other things happening at the Taste of London this year worth noting include:

  • Taste of Malaysia where you can sample Malaysian dishes from three of London’s top Malaysian restaurants: Satay House, Tukdin Flavours of Malaysia and Awana.
  • The brand new Taste Wine area where top sommeliers and producers will be on hand to help visitors “swirl, sniff, sip and savor” some of the world’s best wines.

Another tip: Before or after the Taste of London, check out Oxford Circus; Bond Street; Madame Tussaud’s; or the Sherlock Holmes Museum. All are near Regent’s Park.  For more ideas on things to do in London, check out Visit London’s Web site.
