Cruise Lines Catering to Men’s Interests

The cruise industry has been taking note of industry reports that indicate that nearly half of all cruise travelers are men and are making a more concerted effort to ensure that cruises cater for men’s interests.

Cruise ships are following the old saying ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach ‘ and are offering everything from casual buffets to bistro-style cafes and ethnic specialty restaurants round the clock.

And to counterbalance round the clock food, cruise ships have upped their game when it comes to fitness, offering state of the art gyms, running tracks, and amazingly real, on-board computerized golf simulators. Plus many ships have added bowling alleys, challenging rock-climbing walls, giant trampolines, and even ice skating rinks.

More shore excursions are also being geared more to men’s interests. As well as the traditional city sights tours, many cruise lines are also providing active adventure excursions such as cave tubing and white water rafting. Crystal Cruises is even offering passengers the chance to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghine, or Maseriti on some of their European shore excursions.

But cruise ships also recognize that not all men are looking for physical adventure. And so the ships also provide plenty of other activities – gambling, drinking, and pampering. Most ships feature floating casinos (with the exception of Disney Cruise Lines), a variety of bars (wine, beer, and cigar bars), and men orientated spa treatments, including massages, facials, and pedicures.
