Cool Places To Go For Father’s Day

Most Dads are pretty easy when it comes to Father’s Day. And one of the best ways to let Dad know that he is the very best is to  celebrate the day with a fun, family outing. Here are some ideas for five places to go in Boston that would make an extra-special day for Dad.

Animals are parents too! In honor of Father’s Day all Dads receive free admission on Sunday, June 20th at the  Franklin Park Zoo (Franklin Park, Dorchester)(Map).

Neckties are the Father’s Day gift. At The Boston Children’s Museum (300 Congress St., Boston)(Map) kids can make a paper necktie that Dad will be proud to wear all day. Necktie drop-in workshops are 11 AM-1 PM and 2 PM-4 PM, free with museum admission.

Dad deserves the best, so go all out with the Boston Pops Father’s Day Family Concert and Brunch (Symphony Hall, Boston)(Map) on Sunday, June 20. Brunch ($40 adults, $20 ages 5-12 years, free under age 4) begins at 12:30 PM, followed by a special Boston Pops matinee concert(tickets $20-$89)  at 3 PM with Keith Lockhart conducting family orchestra favorites, Peter and the Wolf and The Carnival of the Animals.

For a fun-filled half day on the water, the Father’s Day Lunch Cruise on the Spirit of Boston (One Seaport Lane, Boston, $45.90 adults, $15.90 ages 3-12)(Map) can’t be beat. Board at 11 AM, cruise from 12 PM to 2 PM, and enjoy a buffet-style lunch along with a DJ entertainment. The kids even get  goodie bags.

Finally, need an “ace in the hole” activity in case of a rainy Father’s Day? On Sunday, June 20, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (465 Huntington Ave., Boston)(Map) is hosting a Community Day with free admission for all.
