Artpark’s Outdoor Concert Series

Artpark (map)provides the ideal location for an outdoor concert: a stage perched on the edge of the Niagara River. Every Tuesday and Wednesday night during July and August, Artpark brings in some great musical entertainment. The best part is? It’s free. As long as you have your own chair and  some beer and food money, you are in for a great evening!

Located in Lewiston, New York, Artpark is about an hour drive from Niagara Falls (Canadians, remember to bring your passports!).  Artpark serves as a public park, and a place to just celebrate art. They have everything there, from Broadway caliber shows to Big Band concerts. Artpark also hosts youth camps in the areas of art, theatre and video. Artpark also has some pretty great hiking trails that meander through the property.

The free summer concerts are hugely popular, and rightfully so, because Artpark manages to attract some pretty huge names.

The lineup on Tuesday nights this year is:

  • June 15th: War
  • June 22nd, Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt a Whirl Band
  • June 29th: America
  • July 6th: The Guess Who
  • July 13th: Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi Band
  • July 20th: Creedence Clearwater Revisited
  • July 27th: George Thorogood and the Destroyers
  • August 3rd: Little Feat
  • August 10th: Doobie Brothers
  • August 17th: Foreigner
  • August 24th: Sara Evans
  • August 31st: The Machine performs Pink Floyd
  • The lineup for Wednesdays:
  • July 14th: Katharine McPhee
  • July 21st: Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue
  • July 28th: John Brown’s Body
  • August 4th: The Sadies
  • August 11th: Willie Nile Band
  • August 18th: Sloan
  • August 25th: The Trews

Parking right at Artpark will cost you $10, but it is easy enough to park in town and walk to the concert area. Getting out of the Artpark parking lot after a popular concert can take a long time, so oftentimes it’s best to just avoid parking inside if you can. If you have time to spare, Lewiston is a lovely little town to spend the afternoon in. There are lots of little shops and good restaurants for dinner. Food tents are set up within the concert area though if you are looking to save some money. Another helpful thing to note is that these concerts are often very popular, and if you are hoping to get right up close to the band, you will want to arrive several hours in advance. If you are just happy to see the band in the distance, you don’t need to arrive that early.  Plus there are a couple of large screens that show the concert. Artpark is a great place to spend a summer evening and enjoy a free concert!
