Lisbon is Upgrading its Boutique, Charm Hotel List

There is no doubt that Lisbon has been setting its standards higher each year.  The city has received many awards lately, including several World Travel Awards and best 2010 destination in Europe .  Hotel in Lisbon have been doing the same.  Along with the old traditional hotels and the international chains, we’ve seen other great choices appear, like the luxurious boutique Bairro Alto Hotel.

The philosopher Albert Camus once said that “Charm is a way to obtain a yes without asking a question”.  Charm hotels means small, luxe and often in old historic buildings.  Here , small details matter. A lot.

Over the next few years, six new Charm Hotels throughout Lisbon. This project will help to restore buildings of historic significance, while also improving the quality of accommodations available to visitors.   Most of the sites are small palaces that will be converted into hotels:

  • Palácio Braamcamp at Principe Real;
  • Palácio Visconde do Rio Seco at Bairro Alto;
  • Palácio Panca Palha at Santa Apolónia;
  • Edifício do Passo da Procissão Machadinho at Madragoa;
  • Palácio Benagazil at Olivais
