Chicago’s Trump Hotel Opens its Outdoor Terrace

One of Chicago’s best outdoor dining spots  is about to open for the summer season: The Terrace at Trump (on the 16th floor of the Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago; 401 N. Wabash Avenue, map) known for its views of the Chicago River (and its famous bridges), Lake Michigan, and iconic structures like the Wrigley Building. The Terrace officially opens May 20 at 3 p.m.  and will be open every day from 2:30 to 11:30 p.m. Guests are seated on a first-come basis.

Described as a “chic, outdoor oasis,” The Terrace will have something new this year: an additional 40 seats for more seatings and new summer food and cocktail menus. Bit of trivia: The Terrace’s male staff wear blue and white gingham short-sleeve dress shirts with gray trousers, and the women wear lilac, summery cotton shirt dresses, all designed by Chicago designer Nicholas Hansen.

This year’s new menu offerings at The Terrace include:


Prime rib of beef with arugula mayo and crispy shallots.

Turkey with cranberry relish, sprouts and fresh pineapple.

Ashed goat blue cheese burger with heirloom tomato.

Lamb loin with lemon aioli and fried eggplant.


Maine lobster with mango relish and breakfast radish.

Big eye tuna with toasted sesame, scallions and ginger.

Diver scallop with beet reduction and wasabi mayo.

Shrimp with spicy cocktail.

Chopped Salads:

Tempura calamari with candied pecans, spicy peanut dressing and red cabbage slaw.

Lamb loin with fresh harissa, socca crisps and caraway vinaigrette.

Grilled eggplant, dried cherry dressing, toasted almonds and cilantro.

Hawaiian fried chicken with macadamia nuts, honey mustard and pineapple.


Beef satay with friend carrots and sweet chili.

Bison kebob with salsa verde and crispy red onion.

Corn dog with spicy relish and fried pickle.

The Terrace’s new cocktail theme, called “Bubbles on The Terrace,” showcases cocktails created with Champagne and sparkling wine, including:

Marigold Ginger Bellini: White peach purée, Domaine de Canton, prosecco.

Cœur de Rose: Grey Goose, muddled strawberries, sparkling rosé.

Fiery Iris: Vanilla grapefruit tea, jasmine syrup, prosecco, and cayenne pepper-infused sugar rim.

Violet Paradis: St. Germain, Crème de Violette, prosecco and orange sugar rim.

Lavender Citron Fizz: Belvedere, lemon sorbet, lavender, sparkling wine.

Mojito Rojo: Hum liqueur, mint, fresh sour and sparkling rosé.

Tip: In the summer, The Terrace becomes one of the best spots in Chicago to see the fireworks over Lake Michigan, which take place every Wednesday and Saturday evening from Navy Pier from the Fourth of July through Labor Day.
