Explore Auckland by Bus!

The Explorer Bus is a great way to see the main sights of Auckland and provides a ‘hop on, hop off’ service which enables you to spend as much time as you like at each attraction and is a great option if you have limited time in the city.

Auckland's Explorer Bus

The Explorer has 14 stops which include Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World, Viaduct Harbour, Sky Tower, Auckland Museum, Parnell Village and Victoria Market.

During the winter season (April – October) the bus departs every 60 minutes from the Ferry Building (map) on Quay Street between 10am and 3pm (the first bus leaves Sky Tower at 9.45am), it operates every day and even provides free pick up from most motels/hotels in the South Auckland, Airport, Greenlane, Newmarket to City areas.

A commentary is provided on board the bus in English.

A day pass is $35 per person, $15 for a child (4 – 16yrs) and $80 for a family (2 adults and children) – bookings are not required and tickets can be purchased online from the Explorer Bus site or on the bus itself.  A full timetable can also be downloaded on their site.  Enjoy!
