Costa da Caparica, Some of the Best Beaches in Lisbon
Recently I moved to the other side of the river, to Costa da Caparica. Although just a short and beautiful boat ride from Lisbon, or some 15 minutes by car crossing 25 de Abril bridge, it feels like a sweet break from the rushing of the city.
But you may ask why I’m writing about it now… Costa da Caparica has the closest pristine, long shore beaches you may find in Lisbon. It’s the perfect place to go if you have one day off from Lisbon and just want to relax lying on a white sandy beach.
As the sun is getting warmer, more and more people come to this side. Late July and August are generally too full, especially during the week end.
As you get to the centre of the village you may choose to go to the left or to the right. To the right, as you pass all the car parks you go through a few camping sites. Beaches here are usually quieter because it’s harder to access them and because you pay for parking.
To your left you can either stay around the village centre or take a small train that will drop you on any beach along some 10 miles or more. I would recommend you to go to some of the last beaches.
Most of the beaches around the area have cafes and lifeguards.
