Amsterdam Photo: Tram

Swift and almost silent, Amsterdam trams have right of way over all traffic. The city’s fifteen or so tram routes are the quickest way to get around town.

Amsterdam is a compact city and even though all sights can be seen on foot, I would recommend you to take at least one tram ride. Trams crisscross the city, number 5 is the ideal for sightseeing. It leaves from opposite Centraal Station and stops at many tourist sights.
