The Houston Polo Club

houston polo club, horseback riding, english saddleThe game of polo is about 2000 years old, and The Houston Polo Club has been playing it for the last 82 (that’s “since 1928″).¬† According to their website, the club has been home to the prestigious United States Polo Association’s Silver Cup since 1998 – the oldest polo¬†prize in the country.¬† Taking in a match is fun and affordable, with just a dash of luxury and high-society thrown in.

The club’s¬†spring season is going on now, and they have¬†a full lineup of¬†upcoming events.¬† This Sunday, May 2, is the Houston Cup, and for Mother’s Day on May 9 the club is hosting a “Hats On To Polo” party.¬† The spring season continues on with parties and matches through June; fall season information has not yet been posted to the club’s online¬†events calendar.¬† The Houston Polo Club offers food and beverages¬†in their Ten Goal Grill, catered by the local (and famous¬†and beloved) Armandos (map).

Open seating admission for matches is just $20 and can be purchased online, or you can opt for a social membership for individuals, families, or corporations.  Individual memberships are $1250 and include: open seating for two for 21 Sunday matches, parking, programs, and invitations to club social events.  Playing memberships are also available.

In addition to Fall and Spring seasons the polo club also offers other equestrian services and activities.  Riding memberships and lessons, and polo instruction are available.  (Contact: Eliza Bishop 713.688.7752)
