Take your mom out for a spin this mother’s day

For mother’s day, many people scope out the scene for restaurants serving special mother’s day brunches, mother’s day dinners, or other special events. This year, why don’t you try something more fun, outdoorsy, and healthy? On May 9th, biking tours will be taking place at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm taking cyclists on either a Heart of the City Tour or on a Midtown Tour. There is no better way to experience the city and the gorgeous spring weather than on a bike with the wind through your hair. These tours are great for the whole family to participate in and you don’t need a bike to do the tour!

The Heart of the City Tour takes you on a 10-mile, 3-hour tour over the gentle hills around town; designed for those who lead an active lifestyle. On the tour, you will learn about Atlanta’s rich history, featuring the city’s historic neighborhood of Sweet Auburn (map), Inman Park (map), Little Five Points (map), Cabbage Town (map), and Grant Park (map). This high-energy tour will also take you through the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic District (map), through downtown, over to the Historic Underground Atlanta (map), and then along Peachtree Street (map) to give you a great view of the skyscrapers. This tour starts from The Georgian Terrace Hotel (map).

The Midtown Tour is also a 10-mile, 3-hour tour but with a few more challenging hills. However, you will feel energized and satisfied with your Sunday afternoon because of it! This tour will take you to see “the new Atlanta” which entails the northern area of the city. New and modern skyscrapers, restaurants, parks, and intown historic neighborhoods will be among the sights to see on the tour. Biking Ansley (map) and Piedmont Parks (map) are also on the agenda, then cycle along the bike trail next to the Carter Center (map) towards Inman Park (map). This tour also starts from The Georgian Terrace Hotel (map).

Both tours cost $50 and Bicycle Tours of Atlanta provides entertaining and knowledgeable facts about Atlanta during the tour, as well as providing you with a high-quality bike, helmet, and bottled water.
