Life is Peachy at the Queen Creek Peach Festival

Where can you toss peach pits, gorge yourself on peach pie and compete in a peach gunny sack race?   Schnepf Farms (map), the largest organic Peach grower in the state is home to the annual Queen Creek Peach Festival in Queen Creek, Arizona.  For good old fashioned fun, pick your own peaches and join in on the lip-smacking taste testings of everything peach on May 8th, 9th,15th and 16th.

The event is free to the public and if you haven’t been to Schnepf Farms you and your family will love this local farm.  Starting in the 1960’s they grew their own potatoes for potato chips and before long they were shipping vegetables across the country .  Today, they’re 5,000 acre farm is open to the public all year round and you can pick your own peaches and organic vegetables or visit their Farmers Market to purchase a variety of fresh veggies and fruit.

Each morning of the festival they’re hosting a peachy pancake breakfast and at 10am each day there is a celebrity chef demonstration.  I imagine these chefs will impress the crowd and serve the most delectable dishes using Schnepfs famous peaches.  For kids, big and small alike, take a train ride through the orchard, scream on a roller coaster, buzz around on the honeybee adventure, and jump on the giant slide and swingin’ lady bugz.  What more can you ask for?

Take a day trip to Queen Creek, only 35 miles from downtown Phoenix, and get a taste of down home food and fun.
