Spa Break: The Five-Star Treatment in Dublin

I sometimes find it difficult to relax at a spa in the middle of the city. If you’re planning a trip to a spa when visiting Dublin, there’s no better place to indulge in a little pampering than outside the city at the ESPA Spa in the Ritz Carlton, Powerscourt

Driving into the Powerscourt Estate, just 30 minutes south of Dublin in County Wicklow, I am always immediately relaxed by the rolling hills, dense trees, and picturesque Sugar Loaf Mountain on the horizon. This country retreat is the perfect place for a spa, and the Ritz Carlton have created a luxurious space worth traveling from the city for.

One of the most impressive features is the spa suites. These are a great feature for couples who want to use the spa, but aren’t interesting in sharing the main pool, Jacuzzi, and steam room with all the other guests. If you book the spa suite, you can arrive an hour before your treatment to enjoy a suite designed for romance. There’s a bath tub for two, a steam shower, and comfy chaise lounges. The suites even have their own balcony with an amazing view of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. This is the type of atmosphere I can really relax in.

The spa suites have treatment rooms for two, so couples can enjoy the spa together. Whether you choose a facial, massage, or other treatment from the spa menu you can enjoy this treat without leaving each other’s sides. All of the products used are ESPA – and at the beginning of your treatment you will have a fragrance consultation to choose what appeals to you.

Like any true spa break, the Ritz Carlton provides a fantastic escape. Once my couples massage was finished, I stretched out the bliss by taking a long rainforest shower. When it was time to say goodbye to the spa suite, the Powerscourt Gardens were right next door for a stroll. Book your treatment to have time to go for a stroll in the gardens afterwards, and return to Dublin refreshed and just in time for dinner!
