Brunch at the Delano

Sunday Brunch – How I love thee. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this late-morning activity until I took a trip to the Delano this weekend. Yes, the Delano, the place to see and be seen. It radiates energy and it’s just as much fun people-watching, as it is drinking mid-morning champagne cocktails. Sit outside, enjoy the breeze and take in the sunshine while filling your stomach with gourmet bites — I could do this more often.

The occasion this time was that Blue Door had recently relaunched their a la carte weekend brunch menu, and the lobster beignets were calling my name. That, and the $20 bottomless Bloody Mary special. While glancing over the menu, you’ll like Chef Claude Troisgros’ twist on traditional favorites — Mushroom White Pizza & Truffled Scrambled Eggs, Baked Pancetta Eggs in White Polenta or Blue Crab Cakes and Eggs (as seen in the photo), but you’ll also be able to get more traditional brunch items, sandwiches, salads, seafood and more. You’ll also be able to choose from a few variations of the mimosa (we went for blueberry), spiked lemonade and coffee drinks.

If you think a la carte means you are going to save a few bucks, think again as our bill easily topped the $100 mark (and that was with just one drink, one appetizer and two entrees), but what did you expect? This is the Delano. Where you are going to save is in the valet, as brunch-goers will have their parking validated and pay only $8. Beat that on the beach. Brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Blue Door is located at Delano, 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach.
