Edinburgh Airport Springs into Summer
Two weeks ago we had heavy snows in the outskirts of Edinburgh, and now there’s sunshine and warm. But that could all change between the time this was written and when you’re reading it!
Regardless, I though I’d share some great news about new Edinburgh airport routes being serviced by several carriers. This means that there are now more easy ways to get into Edinburgh – and of course, more direct places for locals to stretch their legs. The airport is also in full swing on terminal improvements, and from what I’ve seen so far it’s shaping up very nicely. Lots of waiting room in the airport and some nice airline lounges for those frequent flyers out there.
Vueling’s new routes for the summer start on June 24th and include three flights a week from Edinburgh to Barcelona, a citythat was once a key route for the now bankrupt carrier Globespan. Barcelona is another PlanetEye Traveler destination so be sure to check it out.
FlyBe has also announced a new summer schedule, which include increased service to island of Guernsey and Manston airport in Kent. Guernsey is a fantastic spot for travellers and the flights make it easier to explore the Channel Islands from Scotland.
Lufthansa is also increasing it’s Frankfurt service to Edinburgh; Lufthansa already had a pretty regular service, so this likely means shorter and more fluid connections for Edinburgh passengers connecting in Lufthansa to other European and international destinations.
We’ll keep an eye out for more new destinations and updates on the Edinburgh airport improvement works, but for the absolute latest news be sure to visit www.edinburghairport.com. Enjoy flying those friendly skies!
