Girls Night Out at the Best Western Hotel

My girlfriend and I planned to attend a Blues show at the Yale Hotel, downtown Vancouver, but we didn’t want to have to rush out early in order to catch public transit or, in her case, to drive a long way home to the suburbs after a night of partying.  So we decided to have a girl’s night out, and we booked a room at the Best Western Hotel Downtown.  It happens to be right across the street from the Yale Hotel at Drake and Granville Streets.  How perfect was that!

When we booked our room, we were amazed at the reasonable price we had to pay for two double beds in a non-smoking room –   $99.99 (tax not included), and that was right after the Olympics when prices downtown were still outrageous!  Not only is the hotel conveniently located to all kinds of downtown sites such as Stanley Park, Chinatown, and BC Place Stadium, it is within walking distance of a major shopping area.  What more could two girlfriends ask for?

Our room was cozy and comfortable, tastefully decorated with provisions for making coffee, a fridge, a TV and a view down below from the 9th floor to the Yale Hotel.  We were in heaven!

We visited the hotel’s fitness centre, equipped with all the necessary exercise equipment and even a ping-pong table.  We enjoyed the panoramic view of the city from the roof.  There’s a steam room and jacuzzi too.  And if you want more exercise, the hotel has complimentary bikes you can borrow to explore around the West End.

For dinner we just had to go downstairs to the White Spot Restaurant and Lounge and ordered one of their delicious, fabled Triple-O Burgers.  Then we were off to party right across the street at the good old Yale, Home of the Blues, one of Vancouver’s  oldest heritage buildings.  What a nice thought, that when the evening was over we only had to walk across the street to our hotel.

The Best Western Hotel also offers special feature packages such as a B&B package, Canucks Hockey packages, Cruise Ship and Romance packages.  The service at the hotel is excellent and the staff most pleasant. The hotel is suitable for disabled guests and is entirely non-smoking.  There’s private parking at the hotel for $10 a day.

We were both so pleased with our stay at the hotel we decided that for our next Girls Night Out, we’ll be sure to book into the Best Western Hotel again.
