The Greatest Show on Earth is in DC

Ringling Bros. circus elephant

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was first called the “Greatest Show on Earth” after the two circuses merged in 1907.   And today,  Zing Zang Zoom, the latest show from RBB&BC, is a magical version of the “Greatest Show on Earth” led by Zingmaster Alex.  It’s now showing at two Washington DC area venues, The Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia and The Verizon Center in Washington DC.

Watch as a 4-ton elephant magically disappears before your eyes followed by 2 female human cannon balls as they are shot from a giant cannon.

Some of the circus highlights that should delight kids of all ages from 3 to 103 include:

  • High-wire acts
  • Dog act featuring a dozen of the cutest pooches ever
  • Clowns, clowns and more clowns
  • Arabian horses
  • The Fernandez Brothers who juggle on spinning “dueling wheels” that circle close to 40 feet of the ground
  • Levitytia, the upside-down Brazilian beauty
  • 12 Bengal and white tigers
  • And of course…elephants

And before each show, check out the FREE backstage pre-show.  Besides meeting the performers and getting an autograph or two, then learn how to juggle or a magic trick or two from Zingmaster Alex.  Or try on a few of the actual costumes used in The Greatest Show On Earth.

Other back stage antics include a low-wire act, watch as an elephant does some painting, and the dogs warm up with some silly tricks.
