“Paradise Found” at Paradise Point Resort & Spa
Paradise Point Resort & Spa is an iconic 44-acre island retreat set on San Diego’s Mission Bay that emerged with an exotic new look with a $20 million renovation on their 462 bungalow-style guestroom and expansive bay front meeting facilities. Recently, I was invited to view the renovation that was originally built in 1962 by visionary Hollywood producer Jack Skirball. Reinforcing the lush island theme, the refurbished resort will sport an exotic South Pacific-style design motif that consist of vibrant tropical gardens of hibiscus, palms and bougainvillea.
In April 2010 full renovation of the guestroom and suites will be complete. The bold design, exotic wood accents, island-inspired luxuries and modern mainland conveniences are on the horizon. Each room offers spacious accommodations range from the 5,000-square foot presidential suite to the 450-square foot standard guest rooms that are all impeccably outfitted with chic marble or granite bathrooms; as well as flat-screen plasma TVs, wireless Internet access and private patios.
There are plenty of amenities including five swimming pools, 18-hole putting golf course, full-service marina, tennis courts, volleyball courts. Spaterre, a 7,050 square foot spa offers a unique spa experience inspired by exotic rituals from Thailand and Indonesia, offering relaxing body therapies and salon services with seven private treatment rooms. An award-winning waterfront restaurant, Baleen, features stylish and innovative seafood and regional specialties. Other restaurants include Barefoot Bar & Grill (a local hot spot with seasonal live entertainment) and the Tropics Bar & Grill (located poolside at the main pool and spa).
