What’s Next for MVP Brees? Disney, Of Course
At the end of the Super Bowl XLIV game Sunday night some dreams came true while others dreams were dashed.  While some players headed slowly back to their locker room, when asked what he planned to do next, the victorious New Orleans Saints MVP quarterback Drew Brees shouted “I’m going to Disney…”!
Like so many champions before him, Brees was the star of commercials airing only hours after the championship game ended, in which the MVP declared “I’m going to Disney World” and ” I’m going to Disneyland”.  The advertising series began in 1987 and has been used after other sporting events and nearly every Super Bowl game since.
Referred to as the “What’s Next” campaign, the winner seems to be being interviewed by an unknown narrator, asking “What are you going to do next? “. While strains of “When You Wish Upon a Star” play in the background, the champion replies with both resorts, with Disneyland ads running in the West Coast market.
The commercial ends with fireworks being shot either over Cinderella’s Castle (map), or Sleeping Beauty’s Castle (map) for the West Coast ads. Making good on his plans, the celebration is just beginning as Brees joins Mickey Mouse in a parade in the Magic Kingdom.
Just where did the idea for these ads come from? According to former CEO, Michael Eisner, the idea came to his wife following a dinner party. Sitting beside a guest who had just accomplished an enormous feat, Mrs. Eisner asked what their future plans were. “I guess we will go to Disney World” was the reported reply and the rest is commercial history.
