Grand Opening of The Village at Gulfstream Park

When a store opens up it’s time for a party, but when a mall opens up a carnival is in order. That is what’s happening later this week at The Village at Gulfstream Park opens their doors. From a ribbon cutting ceremony to live music performances to in-store demonstrations, you are in for a real treat. While I must admit I haven’t been down to the mall yet — there are many shops that are calling my name including Ola Cuba by Chef Douglas Rodriguez, Tonino Lamborghini Caffe Corsa (The first restaurant in the US. totally designed by Tonino Lamborghini, the famous Italian luxury brand), Ta-Zin (authentic Moroccan), Brio for their amazing Happy Hour and Full Bodied Wine & Spa (an innovative grape-spa, salon and boutique).

Here’s the schedule for later this week:

Thursday, Feb 11

10:00 am

  • Ribbon cutting celebration with Mayor Joy Cooper and the City of Hallandale Beach and stores open

10:30 am – Noon

  • Victor Espinola will be performing. Stop by to enjoy his unique blend of Flamenco, Gypsy, Brazilian, Middle Eastern, African, Pop, and Dance music. Now that’s a mouthful!

6:30 pm

  • Let the carnival begin when the sun sets. This village will be a hub of activity with dancers of salsa, merengue and the mambo filling the streets. Live entertainment will add to the scene, as musical group Latin Wave sets the stage. Simplicity is not the word tonight, as performers in elaborate costumes are here to “wow” you.

Friday, Feb 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm

  • The party continues with day 2 of celebrations. Tonight’s events include a street festival, but this time we move to the blues with The Jake and Elwood Blues Revue. This high-energy, nine-piece dance band will bring familiar favorites to get everyone into the mood as they perform in Champion’s Plaza. This event is free and open to the public.
  • Saturday, Feb 13 from 10 am – 11:30 am

    • Saturday is for the kids and The Village of Gulfstream Park will bring their Pony friends in for a late morning meet and greet. Children will have the opportunity to pose for pictures, enjoy some snacks and mingle with the horses and jockeys. This will take place at the Walking Ring at Gulfstream Park.

In addition to the main activities, Williams-Sonoma will bring in Miami’s top toques for some culinary demonstrations — Think Michael Schwartz from noon to 1:00 pm on 2/13 (Michael’s Genuine), Sean Brasel from 10:00am – noon on 2/11 (Meat Market) and Jeff O’Neill from 10:00 am – noon on 2/12 (Gibraltar at Grove Isle) — Not a bad line-up! You can check out Williams-Sonoma’s complete line-up of events here.

The Village at Gulfstream Park is located at 501 S Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach. (954) 378-0900
