Sydney Photo Friday: Local Laneway For the Birds

I’ve loved the Laneways By George! art displays which have taken over the city as part of the annual Art and About festival. Each oft-forgotten space has been transformed into a magical area, including this lovely spot on Angel Place.

With this installation, called Forgotten Songs, we remember the birds that used to call Angel Place home, long before the city’s buildings went up. There are the birdcages of course, but you really want to visit to appreciate this art installation. The songs of the former feathered residents, including the rockwarbler, golden whistler, and brush cuckoo by day, and the powerful owl and southern boobook by night.

The installations will be removed at the end of the month, so you’d better get on your skates to see them!
