Spencer Tunick To Strip Sydney in March
Acclaimed photographer Spencer Tunick is inviting 2000 Sydneysiders to shed their clothes for the sake of art.
He plans to use the Sydney Opera House as a backdrop for one of his famed photographs, which feature hundreds and sometimes even thousands of nude bodies. To be called The Base, the Aussie image will be shot on March 1 to coincide with the city’s annual gay and lesbian Mardi Gras festival.
“In a way, I’m making a base for the structure, a base for the architecture, and by combining straight and gay and lesbian people I’m weaving the different sexes and society together to form this wonderful fabric that holds up this gorgeous building,” Mr Tunick told radio today.
As places are limited, you’ll need to head to Spencer Tunick’s website and register. I think it’d be an exhilarating experience, but I’m not sure I’m courageous enough to strip down in front of strangers. I’ll have to see whether I can lose my inhibitions before March!
