Amsterdam Tulip Museum
Amsterdam Tulip Museum is on Prinsengracht opposite Anne Frankhuis. When you enter the museum, a kaleidoscope of colours greets you, red tulips, white lilies and dazzling daffodils. You may think that you are in the wrong place. The tulip Museum is both flower shop and museum.
The Tulip Museum is housed in the airy basement room and tells the history of the tulip. Tulips are one of the best Dutch export articles, but they are not endemic. How the tulip was brought to the Netherlands from central Asia via Istanbul. How the tulip became an object of speculation in the 17th century. At the height of the tulip bubble one flower bulb changed hands for the same price as an Amsterdam canal house. But the bubble burst and many people lost lots of money.
