Hear Jazz Guitarist Al Di Meola

His music is wide-ranging from Latin-influenced jazz and jazz fusion, to more of an avant-garde jazz sound, including world beat rhythms and a 48-string bandura harp.

Di Meola started his career as the guitarist with Chick Corea’s band, Return to Forever, one of leading groups that launched the jazz-fusion movement of the 1970s.  But after a couple years, the 19-year-old guitar wizard launched his solo career.

With a blazingly fast guitar style and technical mastery, he has played or recorded with everyone from Luciano Pavarotti and Les Paul to Frank Zappa and Jimmy Page.  His wide-ranging appeal led him to win Guitar Player Magazine’s Best Jazz Guitarist reader’s poll four times.

Examples of his Latin influenced songs include ‘Mediterranean Sundance’ and ‘Lady of Rome, while his technical perfection can be heard in virtually all of his songs.

This is a chance to see and hear one of the best guitarists in the jazz world.
