Seasonal Concerts, Circus Acrobats and Gourmet Dinner

December is the month of sparkling lights, magical candles and Christmas-themed music. The city abounds in cultural, entertaining and festive events. Music-lovers, cultural-minded gourmets and fun-loving children (and adults), there is something for everybody.

Are still you making plans for the festive season? Here are my suggestions:

 

CHRISTMAS FOR MUSIC LOVERS

WHAT: Festival of Lessons and Carols and Midnight Mass
Familiar carols will provide you with the ultimate Christmas spirit.

WHAT: German Baroque Organ Recital
Baroque music was written on demand. The composer considered himself a craftsman rather than an artist.

WHAT: Russian Christmas Concert
Low, sonorous voices of the Oktoich Chamber Choir and the male choir of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral in London take you on a journey to Russia.

WHAT: Christmas Songs of Love and Joy
Familiar and lesser-known songs transport you to a world of joy, happiness and reflection
WHERE: Meer en Vaart, Meervaart 300

WHAT: Händel’s Mesiah, Basle (Switzerland) Chamber Choir and Tölzer Boy Choir
Oratorio which tells about the arrival of the Messiah, His worldly sufferings, and His death to save for mankind. The Hallelujah Chorus is the most famous part.

Exotic fairy tale about the struggle between good and evil

WHAT: Winter Circus Martin Hanson
Clown, acrobats and animals transport you to a world of sand, sawdust and cracking whips.

CHRISTMAS FOR CULTURE-LOVING GOURMETS

WHAT: New Year’s Eve Brunch
Your last meal in 2009 accompanied by a medley of show and song

WHAT: comedy show and three-course dinner with unlimited wine and beer and party as long as you can stay awake|
