Review: Start Packing! Get a Copy of Girlfriend Getaways

I was bitten at an early age. By the travel bug, that is. It all began when I was old enough to become my mother’s traveling companion and tour the world.

Post college years, I perfected the cheap weekend getaway with a group of girls that were just like me, struggling in the big city.

Today, it’s not just us we consider in our daily lives. We now have husbands, children, stepchildren and grandchildren. It seems that not only do we feel the need to relieve the stress from our added responsibilities, but we also want to regain the female relationships we had in our younger days.

Well ladies, help is here!  In The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Girlfriend Getaways, travel writer Lisa Kasanicky takes her girlfriends and other women readers on the trip of a lifetime.

The guide provides the following:

  •  A crash course in getaway planning – what you need to know and how to prepare those you leave behind.
  • Choosing a getaway to meet budgets and expectations
  • Packing tips
  • A plan to determine all modes of transportation necessary; be it planes, trains or automobiles.
  • First-hand accounts of themed getaways including shopping, spas, culinary, adventure, and of course Vegas!

As a freelance writer who has written spa and travel guides for the Arizona Office of Tourism, The Arizona Republic’s lifestyle publications, and as a regular beauty columnist for several national and Phoenix-based publications, it’s safe to say that Lisa knows her stuff and suggests getaway ideas in her book that can get anyone off the couch.

If you’re a Phoenix local, you might also be familiar with ArizonaSpaGirls.com a girlfriend-to-girlfriend online guide for spa enthusiasts.  Lisa is the creator of ArizonaSpaGirls.com and a well-renowned go-to-gal for wellness spas and beauty.

My favorite getaway she suggests is included in the chapter titled “Real Cowgirls Don’t Wear Stilettos.”  The Giddy-Up Gals Getaway is a kind of City Slickers meets Annie Oakley, which describes me to a tee (irony implied).  What attracts me to the getaway is that it is an immersion into ranch lifestyle with basic education in horse and tack, riding instruction and herding steer at the Ranchos de los Caballeros in Wickenburg, Arizona.  If you’re a frustrated cowgirl like me just busting to get on the range, then this trip and others are right up your alley.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Girlfriend Getaways provides all the necessary tips and tidbits for making the most of your getaway.  Lisa’s writing is witty, entertaining and makes you want to jump on a plane.  The way she describes each getaway allows you to envision yourself at that spa, ranch or festival wanting to soak in more.  She provides all the important details for each excursion right down to whether or not meals and beverages are included which can greatly affect each traveler’s budget.

Not only does she provide the nitty gritty of each trip she offers encouragement to the weary traveler who refrains from a retreat simply because they feel guilty for taking “me time.”  She reminds us all that no matter our budget, family or work commitments we all deserve to getaway.

With over 75 destinations across North America for shopaholics, adrenaline junkies, spa goddesses, and wild and wacky gals, (plus more than 50 other ideas to explore) she gives you an excuse to leave town.  Purchase a copy today and be the one that your girlfriends praise for planning a fantastic, bonding adventure.

My dearest childhood friend and I located an old grade school friend a few months ago. Since we all live in different states we are planning on a road trip to meet up and hopefully land in the state we all went to school. Sounds like fun for a bunch of mid 40 year old woman! It would be great to take information and tips from “The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Girlfriend Getaways” and share amongst as we each hit the road and then travel together! Personally, I love road trips because I get a chance to see things that I would not have if flying by plane or traveling with time constraints on the destination.
