Best of Los Angeles: Party Scene

“Best of” is the newest feature on Planet Eye Traveler, which you will be able to find across the different cities each week.

This week’s Best of Los Angeles features the best places to party in honor of the upcoming New Years Eve celebration.

Hyde in West Hollywood (map)

You may have heard of Hyde from the adventures of Lindsay Lohan and pre-baby Nicole Richie.  The bar features rotating rock DJs, and also has small Asian fusion dishes if you need to grab something to eat before a night of dancing!

The Hideout in Santa Monica (map)

A curtain separates the nautically themed bar area from the main lounge, decorated with images of Santa Monica in the 1920s. The bar dwellers are primarily flip-flop-wearing canyon dwellers and nearby restaurant patrons stopping by for weekend DJs and neighborhood gossip.

Backstage Bar & Grill in Culver City (map)

According to the website, the “best dive bar in the world” is also known for the singles scene.  The bar has themed nights, including regulars’ night (Mondays and Tuesdays), Karaoke (Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting at 8 p.m.), and Happy Hour Monday through Saturday from 4-7 p.m.

The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood (map)

From the Roxy’s 1973 opener featuring Neil Young, to Bruce Springsteen’s 1975 performances, the history of The Roxy Theatre is filled with rock icons that continues today.

Best Lounge

Elevate Lounge (map)

Elevate is surrounded by an open-air patio on a 21st floor penthouse with a panoramic view of Los Angeles. The lounge is great for everyone with it’s broad dance floor and VIP seating areas.

Good Luck Bar (map)

The Good Luck Bar is a Chinese dive bar with hanging paper lanterns, carved-dragon ceiling panels and big mirrors, and music ranging from Frank Sinatra to Al Green.
