Thai Lantern Festival, Thailand
Imagine a night’s sky filled with what looks to be a thousand glowing fireflies. As your eyes adjust to the nights darkness, you realize that the sky is actual lit up with thousands of paper lanterns, carried off by the heat of the flame inside its in casing.
There exists such a place where thousands gather to realise there fears, worries and regrets onto the nights sky. Igniting its darkness with the help of monks, men, women and children, this elaborate ceremony takes place near the end of each year and involves offerings of flowers, incense sticks, and gold leaf paper protected by a banana leaf boat which are all send down the river before the paper lanterns are set free.
