Sydney’s New Years Eve Fireworks Go Green
It’s not just Sydney’s Christmas decorations going green. This year’s New Year’s Eve fireworks will also have an eco-friendly touch.
With the theme Awaken the Spirit, this year’s festivities will feature carbon neutral fireworks and entertainment. Green power will be used rather than regular electricity. In keeping with the evening’s eco-friendly focus, Lord Mayor Clover Moore is encouraging revellers to go green by using public transport, limiting their waste, and recycling.
While the event is green, the program’s creative direction Rhoda Roberts wants spectators to dress in blue to capture the spirit of Sydney.
“It is the colour of our amazing harbour, it is the colour of that gorgeous summer sky,” she explained.
Organisers are remaining tight-lipped about the bridge decorations, which are always the highlight of the show. However, they promise it will be the most technologically sophisticated yet thanks to microchip technology. I can’t wait to see how that all comes together!
