Three Dog Bakery – For Dogs Only

The Three Dog Bakery was created in 1989 as a way to offer dog owners natural, healthy food and treats for their beloved canines.  Now Three Dog Bakery is a popular dog boutique with locations across the nation.

When I walked into the bakery/boutique in Newport Beach (map), a little chihuahua with a shirt on squinting in the sun was sitting outside the door, welcoming customers.  The first thing I noticed was designer leashes, collars, and clothing.  I didn’t need any of those things, so I continued on towards the bakery counter.  As I walked to the back of the store, a yellow Lab lumbered towards me and stopped so I could scratch his back.  I loved that there were dogs wandering around the doggie bakery!

With so many choices of treats, it was hard to pick just a couple for Daisy and Sadie to test out.  The last time I visited Three Dog Bakery, Daisy got a doggie brownie and a doggie ice cream cup and loved it, so I wanted to get something different this time.  According to the website, the ingredients used are all natural with no preservatives, artificial flavors, or refined sugars, so I knew any choice would be a good one.  I settled with 2 puptarts ($1.25 each) and a peanut bar (2 for $2).  The puptart was the size of a human mini fruit tart, but instead of fruit, there was special “icing”.  Sure enough, the puptarts and the peanut bar were a big hit, and devoured within minutes!

If there isn’t a Three Dog Bakery near you, they do sell some natural treats on their website.  While the fresh bakery treats are not available online, there are some yummy snacks such as sweet potato slices, apple oatmeal biscuits, and vanilla “woofers”.
