The White Spot: the Best Burgers in Town!

I’ve been a fan of the White Spot  since I was in my teens.  Back then the White Spot had a couple of popular drive-ins where we all liked to go for burgers after a show.   Originally founded in 1928 by Nat Bailey,  it was named after a restaurant on Wiltshire Blvd in Los Angeles.  The original White Spots were popular drive-ins that later evolved into family friendly dining rooms.

White Spot has always been best known for their burgers and the delicious Triple O sauce that gives them their mouth-watering flavor.  But they are also known for their kid’s Pirate Pak meal and other home-style food.

Executive Chef Chuck Currie and Red Seal Chef Jennifer Moyen have created several special burgers on White Spot’s Taste of Tuscany menu that add to the restaurant’s list of famous burgers that range from $10.49, including a Wild Pacific Salmon Fillet Burger if you don’t want to eat meat.  Of course there’s still the famous Burger Platters from $8.99 with the traditional Legendary leading in popularity just as it did way back when I was a teen.  The quality of food at the White Spot is still the best, top quality, ample servings and delicious!

After a busy day of shopping or sightseeing, White Spot is a great place to go for a quick and satisfying meal.  There are various locations around town.  I dropped in to the conveniently located White Spot at Georgia and Seymour Sts in the heart of downtown.  As usual it was hard to choose from the menu, so I decided to take the recommendation of the server and ordered Chef Chuck Currie’s Favorite Burger with a mixed salad and pint of Bavarian style, full bodied Nat Bailey Lager.  I was not disappointed!DSC09912

The whopper of a burger came with a generous serving of salad with sunflower seeds and dried tomato pieces as a savory starter.   (You can have a choice of fries, soup or salad with the burgers).  The burger would have had Wimpy drooling:  6 oz of juicy ground beef with balsamic grilled Portobello mushroom and Bleubrie cheese topped with the famous Triple O sauce, servied with a side of frizzled onions.  All for $11.99.

If you don’t want to order a burger, there is a good choice of Big Bowl Salads and from the Grill, New York Steak or Blackened Cajun Chicken.  For the dinner menus click here

I do recommend you to  try the burgers, though. They really are legendary!

  • White Spot is our favourite as well! The Shrimp Sandwiches are excellent as are their Legendary burgers. The atmosphere is great. White Spots are located throughout the province, including on BC Ferries and in Nanaimo, so you are never far from a British Columbia favourite!
