Yoga Journal Takes Over San Francisco in January

This January marks the 7th year that Yoga Journal magazine has held an annual yoga conference in San Francisco, with 40+ instructors and hundreds of conference attendees from around the United States coming to the city.

From January 28-February 1st, 2010, the Hyatt Regency (map) at Fisherman’s Wharf will be hosting over 100 yoga classes, events, and exhibits.  The conference includes a Business of Yoga workshop on Thursday and Friday, All Day Intensives on Friday and Monday, and the Main Conference on Saturday and Sunday.  There will also be a marketplace open Friday-Sunday.  If you are a beginner and want to jump right into yoga, there is a beginner “track” as well, with specific courses designed to introduce you to yoga, the history of yoga, and meditation.

Some of the amazing instructors this year will include Seane Corn, Jason Crandell, Ana Forrest, Sharon Gannon, James Higgins, Kate Holcombe, Gary Kraftsow, David Life, Judith Hanson Lasater, Tias Little, Dharma Mittra, Shiva Rea, Saul David Raye, and so many more!

If you are going to be in the San Francisco area but are unable to attend the conference, there are community classes and speakers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with meditation, Kundalini and other types of yoga classes, AcroYogi demos, and panel discussions.  More details about public events can be found here.  The marketplace is also open to all!

As a volunteer last year, I was able to see all the work that goes into the conference “behind the scenes” and there is a lot of it!  Horizon Conferences, a Colorado-based company, works very hard to ensure that everything runs smoothly.  I would definitely recommend either participating or volunteering for this amazing event!
