Tee Off at the Best Golf Courses in the O.C.

Although I’m not much of a golfer, Orange County residents who are have several quality courses to choose from!

According to the Best of OC (OC Register), the number one place to play golf in Orange County is Tustin Ranch Golf Course (map).  Named the California Golf Course Owners Association’s Course of the Year in 2008, Tustin Ranch Golf Course features 18 holes designed by Ted Robinson.  With the slogan, “public play with a private feel”, this course has several events throughout the year, including an American Cancer Society charity event in July, a Beat the Pros Tournament, and a holiday brunch.  The club is also beginner friendly, offering 5-day evening classes.

A close second is the Pelican Hill Golf Course in Newport Beach (map).  Considering Pelican Hill was on Golf Magazine’s 2008 Top 20 list, one could argue that this golf course should be number one.  The 36 hole course designed by Tom Fazio is next to Crystal Cove State Park, giving golfers a beautiful ocean view.  The golf course is located within Pelican Hill Resort, so once you’re done golfing there are restaurants, a spa, and fitness centers available.

Third on the list is Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita (map).  Different from the courses on the beach, Tijeras Creek Golf Club is surrounded by lush green trees with mountains in the background.  Also designed by Ted Robinson, this club was named among Orange County’s Best 18 Holes by members of the Southern California Professional Golfers Association.

With choices like these, you can’t go wrong, so pick one and start swinging!
