Creating musical theater from a movie is fraught with complications, but Village Theatre’s artistic director steps up to the challenge with the warm, fuzzy, holiday production.  It’s an ambitious production featuring 26 cast members, a 12-piece orchestra, and around 122 costumes.

Here’s the plot line:

All-American family is living in St. Louis just as the 1904 World’s Fair is set to open.  Things happen that change their lives.  OK, there’s some stuff in between, but this is one of those great old classics where you just know it’s all going to turn out okay in the end.

You’ll likely recognize some of the songs from the show, including “The Trolley Song” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”  In fact, you may find yourself humming these tune a couple days later.
