Holiday Pies from Rock Springs Café

Any Arizonan worth their salt knows that Rock Springs Café (map) serves up the most amazing home-baked fruit and meringue pies in the state. It’s truly a landmark!

A roadside stop off I17 in Black Canyon City, Rock Springs Café is a favorite not only for their charbroiled steaks, campfire trout, two-gun chili, and smoky barbecue ribs, but also for their world-famous pies. Last year the 90-year-old café sold more than 60,000 fresh-baked pies. To meet the needs of their pie fans across the country, the Cafe has recently entered into cyberspace offering Penny’s Pies online. Every pie available at the café is available to order and can be delivered overnight.

The perfect ending to your holiday gathering, a pie from Rock Springs Café is sure to make an impression on your guests. I’m not suggesting that you forego your annual trip to their Black Canyon City location, but save yourself some time and take advantage of their online delivery option. But if you do have the time to entertain family and friends during the holidays expose them to this authentic Western style cuisine. In the end, it’s worth the drive!

  • How far away from Phoenix is Rock Springs Cafe — we will be traveling to Phoenix in January and after running the Rock n Roll Arizona, a delicious piece of pie might be wonderful.

    Jenni,

Rock Springs Cafe is a good drive for you if you will be participating in the Rock n Roll AZ Race. It’s about 45min to 1 hour from downtown Phoenix. There are some great restaurants near the race that you could visit. Visit the downtown Phoenix directory to find some great restaurants and other activities in the area – http://www.downtownphoenix.com/directory
