The Big Round New Zealand Yellow Treehouse

The story behind the Yellow Treehouse is so very marketing-based that you wouldn’t think the end product would be all that amazing. Case in point – Yellow Pages of New Zealand staged, or set off the chain of events to put this treehouse in motion. The idea, get one charismatic individual to accomplish something amazing using only the resources available via the NZ Yellow Pages (both online and by the book). The challenge; an insanely cool orb-like treehouse restaurant 10 meters up a giant redwood tree.

And did they do it? Yes indeed. The Yellow Treehouse was accomplished and a bunch of lucky folks got to visit and eat up among the branches in this incredible treehouse.

Right now, sadly, you can no longer visit, but all that might soon change. The Redwood Forest who owns the treehouse now, are considering a way to make the restaurant open to the public on an ongoing basis, and there’s even whispers of being able to hold your wedding their. Talk about a small footprint wedding! Treehouses, which take up less land are such an excellent idea. Build up, not out. Good plan. To stay on top of when you may be able to visit be sure to visit the Yellow Treehouse website frequently. Hopefully it will be opened to the public soon, which would count as just one more cool reason to visit New Zealand.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen such creative PR in a good long while; the fact that a cool travel destination arose from the idea is like the cherry on the cake. Win-win. Oh, and heads up, there’s a new challenge on – Yellow Chocolate. Not travel related, but the same idea, so neat to check out. One guy must create and launch the world’s first chocolate bar that tastes like Yellow, using, yup, you guessed it the NZ Yellow Pages. Fascinating.
