Halloween Parties in Hong Kong

Here in Hong Kong Halloween is another excuse to party harder than the week before and get all dressed up in sexy costumes. If you’re female, you have the option of dressing up as sexy (insert occupation here) and if you’re a guy, well, whatever works will do really. Here, people don’t traditionally go trick or treating; it’s all about the parties taking place around town and staying out till the wee hours of the morning (like every other major event of the year!). Here’s a list of some family friendly treats and restricted 18 and over parties for everyone to enjoy.

Party Central

If you’re looking to get dressed up for a night out in the town this Halloween, scour the streets of Lan Kwai Fong (map) and hotspots in Central on one of the busiest nights of the year to squeeze your way into crowds of drunken vampires and intoxicated witches. Not for the faint at heart, this is an experience that’s sure to haunt you till next year! Where should you go? Just start at Lan Kwai Fong and let the party ghouls lead the way. *Only for those 18+

The Mira ‘Deadly Halloween Night in 1898’

In the Halloween edition of The Mira Hotel’s popular Murder Mystery dinner, enjoy a five-course dinner and a creepy cocktail while being entertained by this whodunit spectacular. You can also dress up and vie for a chance to be crowned the Best Dressed of the night. Log on to www.murdermysteryhk.com now. Tickets are HK$888.

Spooky Eats and Treats for the whole family

Dan Ryan’s, Union Bar & Grill and Amaroni’s Little Italy will give you a free Carlsberg if you arrive in costume on Halloween. Bring the kids and let them compete for the Best Costume prize at each restaurant then indulge in their delicious food. My personal favourite is Dan Ryan’s. Be sure to order a side of potato skins to go with your steak or baby back ribs. Mmm.

Halloween Charity Parade

The Hong Kong Cancer Fund is holding a charity parade on 31 October and you can join in on the fun! Dress up for a good cause and compete in the costume contest at 4pm and then show off your creativity when the parade starts at 5pm. The parade begins at the HSBC Building in Central and heads to the Central Star Ferry Pier. To join, log on to www.cancer-fund.org/parade now.
