Talavera – Traditional Mexican Cuisine in the Gables

Yes, there are Latin dining establishments in this part of Miami that represent some of the best interpretations of their country or region, but somewhere as huge and varied as Mexico can never be overrepresented.  Opening its doors on Monday, October 19 in Coral Gables, the new Talavera  Cocina Mexican restaurant will feature traditional Mexican cuisine with a contemporary twist, featuring recipes originating from street markets and signature restaurants in Mexico City, under the supervision of Executive Chef Oscar Del Rivero.

TALAVERA_7892Much like the already successful Jaguar Ceviche, also owned and operated by the same co-owners, the interior decor at this latest addition to Gables fine dining will complement the ethnic origin and flavor of the cuisine, with modern Mexican architecture and decorative museum pieces made by Talavera pottery, directly from Puebla City — hence the restaurant’s name.  Menu highlights to look forward to savoring include crab enchiladas in chile guajillo sauce, huitlacoche crêpes with zucchini, and corn and chile poblano, along with a variety of regional moles

The restaurant will have both indoor and outdoor patio dining.  No reservations needed; call-ahead waiting available.

Talavera - 2299 Ponce De Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, FL  33134: Tel: 444-2955
