L.A. Angels of Anaheim Sweep Boston Red Sox

In a game that came down to the last inning, the L.A. Angels of Anaheim won the American League Division Series this afternoon, sweeping the Boston Red Sox three games to none.

Kendry Morales hit a single run home run in the 4th inning, but it wasn’t looking good for the Angels with the Red Sox scoring three runs in the 3rd inning and two runs in the 4th inning, making the score 5-1 in the bottom of the 4th.  The Angels score again in the top of the 6th, and score two more at the top of the 8th.  The Red Sox come back with another run to put the score at 6-4.

Two outs in the top of the 9th and it appears that the Red Sox are going to take Game 3.  Then the game gets interesting.  Erick Aybar singles, then steals second.  Chone Figgins is walked unintentionally, and Bobby Abreu doubles, scoring Aybar and sending Figgins to third. Torii Hunter is intentionally walked to load the bases for Vladimir Guerrero.  Not a smart move, Boston!  Guerrero singles to center field, scoring Figgins and Abreu, taking the lead for the Angels.  Kendry Morales flies out and Boston is up to bat.  The Angels bring in their closer, Brian Fuentes, who seals the deal with a fly out, a foul out, and a strike out.

The Angels will be playing either the New York Yankees (in New York) or the Minnesota Twins (in Anaheim) on October 16.  Get your postseason tickets here.
