Gearing Up for a “Food”-tastic Weekend in the South
No doubt about it, the South loves to celebrate their food. And if you’re in the region this weekend, you can take part in many food relate events going on.
From the State of Oklahoma Championship Cook-Off in Eufaula to Taste of Atlanta to Panama City Beach Seafood, Wine & Music Festival, the South has you covered when it comes to gastronomic treats.
- If you’re in the mood for something hot, head to the Zwolle (La.) Tamale Festival. For something sweet and sticky, check out the 40th annual Sorghum Festival in Blairsville, Ga.
- Want some food that not only taste good, but also will fill you up? Choose from the 26th International BBQ Cook-Off in Grand Prairie, Texas; the Evergreen (Ala.) Sausage Festival, the Tennessee State BBQ & Fall Festival in Lenoir City or 14th annual Cherokee County (N.C.) Chamber Chili Cook-Off in Murphy.
- Love seafood? Then you’ll love the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala., or the St. George Island (Fla.) Oyster Spat Festival.
- And when you can’t decide on one food, go for it all at the Taste of San Antonio Expo, Taste of Charleston (S.C.), Taste of Culpeper (Va.), or Taste of Georgetown (Washington, D.C.)
No matter where you travel to in the South this weekend, it’s guaranteed that you won’t leave hungry.
