Mushroom Festival Near Treviso: Get Your Funk-us On!

31 Years of celebrating the mushroom. Is it possible? Yes, and you’ll be able to take your turn celebrating this wonderful fungus if you venture over to the small town of Nervesa della Battaglia near Treviso, Italy from the 25th to the 29th of September.

If you’re thinking that this is some “throwback to Woodstock” celebration where you’ll find some “shrooms” or “magic toad stools” then you’re seriously mistaken. However, the culinary skills of the locals will undoubtedly show you some ways to prepare these little devils in a way that you never thought possible.

The rough outline of events is as follows:
Program:
September 25th 26th at 7:00pm – opening of the stands for dining enjoyment
September 27th at 6:00am – there will be a bird show and falcon exhibition, the food stands are open all day.
September 28th at 8:00am – begins the traditional market, at 2:00pm will be the parade of grapes, the wine and food stands are open all day.
September 29th at 11:00pm – will be the closing of the festival with a Japanese fireworks display!

There is a complete list of daily activities and exhibitions that can be found HERE as well as some contact information and phone numbers. I’m not sure if they will speak English or not, but it’s worth a shot. If not, just stop by anyway, the people in this area of Italy are always happy to welcome visitors and are always excited about showing off their local traditions.
